1999 ford taurus se: vss is disconnected..liter engine..shifts..garage

i believe that the vss is disconnected on 1999 ford taurus se 3 liter engine, duratic engine, plug hanging loose near transmission.
check engine light on, od off is blinking, shifts badly
was running ok before i brought it to small garage, since then i have the above trouble, either he made a mistake or he unpluged the vss

Yes, then most likely the connector you see is the vss connector, the sensor is located on the passenger side top of the transmission, it is kind of tucked under the exhaust, it may be easier to access it from the top. It is #1 in the picture, #6 is an insulated cover that may or may not be there. The sensor is pointing upward.
