Hi and Welcome to JustAnswer! My name is XXXXX XXXXX I will do my best to help.
looks like problem still with fuel/ this code is for fuel rail pressure sensor.
We need to know though, when car stalls, what is causing it? do you not have fuel pressure or spark?
if no fuel pressure, you can try to replace fuel pump relat first,
replace PCM power relay as well.

How do I check fuel pressure? I can't find a test port with a schrader valve as my other car has. I think spark is OK as "check engine" light goes out when cranking engine.
do you hear the pump when car does not start?
Yes, when I turn key to start the fuel pump runs for 1 - 3 sec.
it may still be the pump, some aftermarket pumps will not work properly.
check injector pulse.
pull one injector connector when car stalls.
using test light check for power at one of the wires when ign is ON
then connect test light to battery power and probe the other wire, light must be blinking when engine is cranking.
if you have spark and injector pulse, this pump is not good.
garage claims an OEM pump was installed, but of course I don't know with certainty. Am I correct that if the "check engine
yes, that indicates crank sensor is received.
sorry, I mean crank sensor signal
Since the "check engine" light goes out when cranking the spark is probably OK, I will try a volt meter on an accessible injector next. One problem is that the car is running fine now, waiting to quit at the least convenient time(Murphy's Law). Any suggested tests I can do now when it is running well?
when it is running, there is nothing you can see, unless it is not running fine, but i will suggest those relays replacement.
Thanks for your answers. I should have realized there usually is no simple cure for an intermittent. One more question. Do you know if there is a test port somewhere on the fuel injector rail or elsewhere where I can measure fuel pressure? After this I'll press the Accept.
it has to be, just a minute to look at diagrams
My Haynes manual doesn't mention nor show one.
I thought of one more question. My simple OBD 2 indicator only shows P0191. Is there more information stored in the car computer that a more sophisticated indicator would retrieve and display?
On vehicles not equiped with pressure test port, you will need to use adaptors to hook up testing pressure gage.
there are many layers of communication levels,
code reader will only read basic engine codes
with scan tool you can see all sensor live data and compare parameters.
pay attension to theft light, it may be part of the problem.
I thought I was finished but one more. You mentioned theft light. I don't know what it is.
alarm, must have red light on dashboard-security light
when key in ignition it mast go off after 3 seconds
if blinks or stays on then there is problem.
This is getting complicated. How is the theft light related to intermittent engine stalling?
theft control module will shut fuel if activated, but if you do not see light blinking or being ON, then that system is OK, I just wanted you to be observant about it.
Do you have any other questions? I am getting tired, and must head to the shower.
Thanks for your help. I'll give your suggestions a try. Or I might consider my wife's suggestion - its time for a new car.
LOL, We should listen to wifes more often I think, thank you for the accept.
