I

ts been a long time since I had to remove one. I am almost positive it does not twist on. I am pretty sure it has vertical splines and is pressed and glued on. Heat is sometimes needed as well as a soak it hot water.

Doesn't sound right. I can't apply heat, the knob is semi-soft, a plastic or rubber compound. The tranny shift knob comes off by just pulling up on it.

Like I said it is pressed on, and like you said just like the transmission knob. The heat I am referring to is a hair dryer, not a propane torch.
