speed odometer fluxtuates, in cruise control cruise turns off, and once stopped and stsrt to go forward vehicle shifts hard. however when speed odometer is working vehicle has no problems. problem occurs off and on

Thank you for the reply, the VSS is located in the rear center of engine compartment, mounted on transaxle (see diagram below), in order to gain access you must remove the exhaust Y-pipe, to replace, if you need I can send replacement instruction s on how to do the repair yourself.

Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS)

 

Removal

  1. Raise and suitably support vehicle.

  2. Remove dual converter Y-pipe from exhaust system. (Click Here For Instructions)

  3. Remove heat shield from transaxle.

  4. Disconnect vehicle speed sensor (VSS) electrical connector.

  5. Remove VSS retaining bolt and remove VSS from transaxle.

Installation

  1. Follow removal procedure in reverse order.

  2. Tighten VSS retaining bolt to 5-8 Nm (44-71 lb-in).
