Hello and Welcome to Justanswer, My name is XXXXX XXX I am here to try and assist your with your question
why did it fail?
No answer. What should I ask the station?
tell me what happen
and what state you live in
could they not read the computer codes?
Receipt says: FAILED EMISSION TEST FOR PO304-CYLINDER 4 MIS-FIRE DETECTED/PO171-SYSTEM TOO LEAN BANK1/PO174-SYSTEM TOO LEAN BANK2*
sounds like you have a vacuum leak and need a tune up with plug wires
Recently rough idling. Service station said intake ducting/manifold leaking. Wanted lots of $$ to replace. I was skeptical.
Found 1 vacuum leak on PVC hose and replaced.
before or after the test? fixed the pcv hose
Before...2 weeks ago.
did you erase the codes before testing?
Got "not sure" answer from station.
You need to get the engine running right and take care of the rough run idle then erase the codes and get retested
do you have a waiver in your state?
some states spend 150 to repair by a certified emission specialist and you can get a waiver.
The rough run idle is OK since hose was replaced. Yes Virginia has waivers. How does that worrk?
You go to a certified emission shop and have them do the repairs spend a certain amount of money and if it is not repaired you can still pass
what is the waiver amount?
$749
pretty high amount
the state I am in is 150
Correction $725
