I have a 2001 Ford Focus that is idling too high and the exhaust manifold is glowing. I changed the converter but the problem still remains. I just put a reman engine in it.

Did it do this before the engine was replaced? Check to make sure there are no vacuum leaks. If no vacuum leaks unplug the IAC (idle air control valve) electrical connector and look for change in rpm. It is located on the throttle body. Disconnect throttle linkage and check for binding and make sure throttle plate is closed.
