most likely the 'reciever' has failed. The outer handle pulls a lever on the 'reciever' assembly on the inside of the door, which is made out of all plastic,and likely something has broke on that. To replace the reciever u must remove the latch along with it as one piece and transfer the latch to the new reciever.

1. Remove the front door trim panel.

1. Remove the side impact energy absorption panel.

1. Remove the inner door handle screw

1. Detach the door latch remote control from the door inner panel.
   1. Insert a flat-bladed screwdriver into the semi-circular shaped hole and lever towards the front of the door latch remote control.
   1. Pull the front of the door latch remote control away from the door inner panel.
   1. Unhook the door latch remote control from the door inner panel.

1. CAUTION: Do not touch the adhesive surface as re-bonding will be impaired.

   Peel back the watershield.

1. Disconnect the door latch actuator electrical connector.

1. Remove the exterior door handle access hole grommet from the door.

1. 

2. NOTE: The screw must be fully disengaged from the door lock cylinder bezel although it is not necessary to fully remove the screw.

   Loosen the screw.

2. Remove the door lock cylinder bezel.

1. 
2. Remove the exterior door handle.
   1. Slide the exterior door handle to release.
   1. Remove the exterior door handle and gaskets.

2. Remove the screws.

2. NOTE: The screw must be fully disengaged from the exterior door handle although it is not necessary to fully remove the screw.

   Loosen the screw.

2. Detach the door latch.
   1. Press the door latch to release.
   1. Detach the door latch.

2. Detach the door latch security shield.

1. 
2. Remove the door latch and exterior door handle reinforcement plate.

1. 
2. Disconnect the door lock cylinder connecting rod (if equipped).
   1. Rotate the clip counterclockwise to release the connecting rod.
   1. Disconnect the connecting rod.

1. Disconnect the exterior door handle reinforcement plate connecting rod
