Resolved Question:

I have 2002 F350 7.3 Diesel and I'm having electrical problems replaced alternator 3 times and have replaced batteries 4 times something is not right. At this time my alternator is not putting any thing out. Before I replace the alternator again I need some help. I have heard that Ford had some problems with their wiring but never did a recall could this be my problem?

Chris (aka- Moose) :

Where are you buying your alternators?

Customer:

Ford

Chris (aka- Moose) :

Since it is a motorcraft alternator and under warranty. They would not rpelace it free of charge 3 times without diagnosing whats causing them to fail. Have they performed the charging systsm tests when you claimed the repair under warranty?

Customer:

They replaced the alternators( Ford)

Chris (aka- Moose) :

But they never have done any diagnostics to see why there failing?

Customer:

I don't know if they did or didn't. Can you answer me about the wiring problem?

Chris (aka- Moose) :

The only charging system wire issues I have seen on this model are resistance concersn in the harness to the big post to the alaternator. There are not any TSBs or SSMs or RECALLs for this vehicle and this concern. Do a OHM test on the B+ wire from the battery to the alternator while wiggling the harness to check for wire chaffing and wire weakness and fuse link resistance.
