Resolved Question:

ford f150 truck run but cuts off when i put it into gear. it is automatic transmission. if i rev engine long enough and then throw it into gear while giving gas it will clunk hard into gear and i can drive. i have avoided driving it for a couple months because it must be causing damage and last time i attempted to move it even this method would not work.

HiCustomer Thank you for asking your question on JustAnswer.

The problem with your truck is most likely a locked up torque converter. There may be other transmission problem as well so the best option is to have the transmission gone through before installing a new torque converter.
