2003 ford explorer heat dont work makes clicking noise in dash sounds like something trying to open ac works when it started was aloud bang

The problem you are describing and the most common cause is a bad Blend door acuator, the acuator have a plastic gear that are know to strip out causing the clicking noise you are hearing. The bad new is the instrument panel has to come out to do the repair. I have enclosed the instruction with a picture of the acuator. If you wish to try the repair, let me know and I can send instrument panel removal instructions as well.
