what type of timing belt/chain does a 2004 ford taurus ses

This answer was rated:

what type of timing belt/chain does a 2004 ford taurus ses have? is it one that will damage the engine if it breaks while driving?

This vehicle has a timing chain. The chaces of the chain breaking while driving is slim to none. This chain has no service interval, and is replaced on a "need-to" basis, which is few and far between.

when i go for regular servicing should i ask them to check the timing chain just to be on the safe side or would i hear/feel/see something if it needs changing

It isn't really common practice to "check" the timing chain. Like I say, it's just about as solid as a rock. If by some odd chance it does happen to "fail", it will "jump time" and you will notice a huge difference in the way the vehicle runs. The odds that it will need changing are slim.
