Can you tell me if the rear brake lights are working when you step on the brake pedal?

Ok. Most likely, you are going to have a problem with the Shift Interlock Solenoid. Check all the fuses to make sure they are good. If they check, suspect a faulty shift interlock. Its located in the steering column.
