Hi! my 2008 f-350 6.4 powerstroke is leaking oil between engine and tranny housing, i lost about half gallons on a 2000km trip. when in florida for vacation, i got my truck to a ford dealer to have it check, they look at it and told me it was the bed plate or rear seal. that was leaking and they don't have time to fix it at that time. now that i'm back to canada i will have an appointement to the dealer to have it check again. is there a tsb from Ford regarding oil leek from bed plate or rear seal??? also is it a big job to replace those seal?? i'd like o know about all tsb that affect the 6.4 dieselThank M.B.
Hello and Thank you for choosing Just Answer.
No. There is not currently no TSB's out for a leaking rear seal on the 6.4L motors. It is not a common problem among the 6.4 from what I have seen. It is a fairly big job as the transmission needs to be removed from the truck to gain access to the rear of the engine where the seal is located.
and waht about the bed plate leaking???
I dont know what Bed Plate they would be referring too, Maybe they are talking about the flex plate on the back of the motor.
the way i understand, it is under the motor , what hold the crank in place??? it is where the oil pan is attached to .
There is a upper and lower oil pan which could be where the leak is coming form.
