1991 Ford F 150: it running by playing with the gas pedal..drivable

Resolved Question:

I have a 1991 Ford F 150. The truck will start then stall out immediately. I can keep it running by playing with the gas pedal but it will eventually stall and is not drivable. I can keep it running by spraying starting fluid in the intake.

Thank you for asking your question on JustAnswer.

If you are having to add starting fluid to keep it running , then I would start with checking the fuel pressure , because a weak fuel pump will cause the type of issue you are having. Install a fuel gage to the fuel rail service port and see if you have 32 to 35 PSI while the problem is occurring.
