what does the red dot in the battery window mean? recently had the alternator replaced and the battery is five years old.
Optional Information: Year: 2004Make: FordModel: EscapeEngine: v6 Already Tried: had battery shop tell me its running at 11.8 volts, currently charging battery to see if battery light goes out. alternator is brand new- two weeks old.
The red dot means you are not charged, if it were green it would mean charged. 5 years is about all you get out of a battery. You could take it down to your local auto parts store and they can run a load test on to determine if infact it is shot or not. My guess is that it has seen its better days. I hope this helps you out.
