Can I disable a PATs system on my 2002 Ford Ranger permanently

Customer Question

Can I disable a PATs system on my 2002 Ford Ranger permanently? If I do NOT want to install a bypass kit, is this an option?

Again, I want to PERMANENTLY DISABLE this. Is this possible? Will a mechanic or dealer be able to do this, or agree to do this?

I'm asking because the car anti-theft device keeps triggering and the car won't start. Very frustrating!!!!

Thank you for using just answer.

I am sorry to say but you cannot bypass this system or permanently disable.

What have you replaced to fix the system?

Have you tried another key?

Yes, have 2 keys. Sporadically trips anti-theft on both keys.

Have not had anything diagnosed or replaced yet. From reading similar accounts of this problem online, wanted to try to bypass the issue completely.

Understand there is a bypass kit (IM04-XK04). Will this solve my problem? Or will it keep recurring?
Expert:  Bamaman39 replied 7 years ago.

I have not heard of a bypass kit and me personally i wouldnt do that.

The way the system works is the keys and the ignition cylinder transcevier. If both your

keys are messing up its possible that the transcevier is messing up or the keys are

getting weak. These are both easy fixes but you cannot do it.You will have to take to ford

dealer for reprogram.
