1993 Ford Tempo: Changed fuel filter

Resolved Question:

1993 Ford Tempo cranks, but won't start. Has spark. Changed fuel filter. Ran for a while then failed to start. Seemed to have residual pressure, when I pulled the old filter. Where is the fuel rail pressure test valve?

Hi MikeeatFairbanks,

The fuel pressure and volume needs to be tested with a GUAGE that you can borrow from a parts store and attach it to the fuel rail schrader valve. This would be your first step.

Thanks for your question and positive feedback,

Ron

I can't find the sharader valve in the fuel rail. This is the four cylinder engine. Is it under the intake runners? What fuel pressure shoud I be seeing? Should I hear the fuel delivery module running, when I turn on the ingition? MH

The book says the schrader valve is on the fuel rail. The rail houses the fuel injectors and the fuel lines. You will hear the pump run for a couple seconds when key is initially turned on.

Thanks again,

Ron

We own several Ford trucks. They are all V-8's. The shrader valve is always on the pressure rail on the left side of the engine. The four cylinder must hide it somewhere under the manifold runners (where the injectors are). Is there any other possible location? MH

No, that's it. I apologize how these posts look, we're experiencing some server problems right now, but all the words are coming through as far as i can see.
