The glow plugs on every 6.0 are now controlled by a module. the module monitors and turns them on. you can check for glow plug module dtcs using a scan tool if you think you are having issues. are you having a starting problem?

yes it is hard to start when cold but starts fine when warm the owner has had the glow plugs replaced but that didn't help

you could possibly have sticking injecotrs. that is a more common issue with the 6.0 than the glow plugs. unfortunately the best way to diagnose this is with a dealership computer/IDS. the problem is that these injectors have these little spool valves that move back and forth thousands of an inch. they get gummed up and worn and tent to bind until the oil warms up a little. you may have some dtcs of non-contributing cylinders. also ford offers our latest calibration with an inductive heating strategy. while the vehicle is off it is heating the injectors to help it start better.
