2003 Mustang GT: with Mach 460 Stereo system

Customer Question

We have a 2003 Mustang GT with Mach 460 Stereo system. The stereo all of a sudden sounds very tinny. Sounds as if the bass is not coming in any longer. All speakers are working, just not bass. This happened about 3 months ago, and ran it by stereo shop. They played and played with buttons on stereo, and it all came back in and was good as new. However they indicated they didn't know how they fixed it. Now it has done it again. Any suggestions for troubleshooting? This has been a great stereo system but now it sounds like crap.   Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time and help.

I looked through all the pinpoint test for your system and they all point out to a fault radio (audio unit). You can either take it out and have the dealership send it out for repairs or find a replacement one and replace it. The unit itself is bad internally, that is why the stereo shop could not find out what fixed it last time. If all they did was play with the buttons, it is the unit itself. You can also check around and see if there are any repair shops in your area that can repair the unit. There is one other option, and that is to install and aftermarket stereo in the Mustang. But it sounds like you like the Mach 460, so it is your decision.
