What are you trying to adjust?

Is the Explorer 4x4?

Manual or Automatic?

Customer: replied 7 years ago.
i just installed a new transmission from auto zone. I need to know how to adjust the linkage because it is not shifting correctly. It is not a4x4. when you put in reverse it starts to back up then pops out of gear. it doesnot shift in proper sequence forward
So I take it that it is a Manual Transmission??

If the TR sensor is not aligned properly would this cause it to pop out of reverse when backing up and the forward gear changing to not operate properly?

Yes this can cause similar, also be sure to check Trans Fluid level
