Your answer verified that we changed the correct part (based on the computer code analysis given us at autozone)...however the problem still exists (basically stuck in 2nd gear...will change to high sometimes, but not stay). Any suggestions you might offer?

Thanks again...

~What size engine does the car have?

~What is the code that you had pulled?

Customer: replied 7 years ago.

The engine is 2.0L... I'll have to go back to the car to get the code, but from memory it said something like "short circuit shift solenoid, location 1"...seems there were a couple more words at the beginning. I can get the exact code when my son gets home in about an hour and a half...

The code will help allot, and also could I get the 17 digit vin number for the car. looking forward to hearing from you,
Customer: replied 7 years ago.

VIN 1FAFP34303W157255

Code message:

Shift solenoid 1 circuit condition. Explanation: BBECM energize solenoid and detected an open or shorted condition. Probable cause: open or shorted solenoid, open or shorted circuit.

My son replaced shift solenoid A (part 30 in the diagram) with no change in symptoms...

Hi chuck, sorry for the delay in the response, do you have the P- code, there are about 8 different codes that pertain to the SSA?
Customer: replied 7 years ago.
Hi... All we have is the info I sent in the previous message. In talking with my son, I understand now that the Ford dealership here sold him part #7G484 (item 32-34 on the diagram) when he was trying to buy part #7H148 (item 30 on the diagram). They told him the parts were the same? So, he placed the 7G484 part in position 30 on the diagram (where 7H148 goes)... Could that be why there was no change?
Hi Chuck, if you have the whole part number that the dealer sold you, I'm gonna need it to check and see if it is the correct part.
Customer: replied 7 years ago.
Receipt says part # XXXXX
Thank you chuck, its gonna be tomorrow before I can check that number, the parts side is down for maintenance till then, so as soon as I get to work, I will get the Information and get back to ya.

Hello... Just checking to see if you were available yet...

Customer: replied 7 years ago.
Hi...just wondering if you had been able to tell if the part we had really should have worked in the shift solenoid A location or not... Holding off buying the other part until we know your thoughts...
Hi chuck, sorry about not getting back to ya sooner, the part they sold you is wrong, they sold you the solenoid that fits SSC,SSD,SSE, the part you need is XS4Z-7H148-AA, that is for solenoid SSA, and again sorry for the delay.
