Ford Escape: rear door..screwdriver..unlock

Resolved Question:

Ford Escape 2002: rear door will not open (other 4 doors will). There's a slot on the inside of the door near the car floor at center, and I can use a screwdriver in that to unlock the first stage. How to proceed to final unlocking?

Hello Mark,

Thanks for logging on and asking your question here at Just Answer I,m Chris.

We need to get the interior door panel loose or bent or off to get the door open the remainder of the way. Your looking at a latch or handle or lock actuator issue in this case.

You need to start by removeing the rear wiper arm cover and remove the 4 door trim panel screws if you can access them to pop the panel off.
