It sounds like you have a fuel pump going bad.
The pump is two stage. It pulls your fuel on the low pressure side, creating about 6 psi in the filter bowl, then back through the high side of the pump to the injectors at 45-60 psi.The fuel bowl has a pressure sensor that is triggering your fuel filter light. The low pressure side of your pump is the problem b/c it can't keep up with the high side, causing you to lose pressure in the fuel bowl. If the high side of the pump goes first, you will lose power but the fuel filter light will not come on.A replacement pump is about $90. It is a pain the first time to change but not terribly hard either.
