i lagged's from a start, blows black smoke out when turbo gets to 2200rpm and above once it hits 2500,2800 plus its starts to pull. no power till turbo feels/sounds like wide open......... went to autozone, litte scanner gave the po238 error code..........
sry, its an 04 f350 with t he left over 03 6.0........
Sounds like the vanes in the turbo are sticking. Very common issue with the turbos. I suggest replacing the turbo with a Ford dealer part. The replacement turbos are resistant from sticking.
Also check the egr valve for carbon deposits. Remove the egr valve and clean with wire brush and carbon cleaner and reinstall. You can try this first, and after cleaning and reinstalling if you still have the problem, replace the turbo.
so most likely NOT sensor related? stupid question here........where the egr valve located?
Not likely. 03-04's where really prone to the vanes sticking and the vane ring cracking inside the turbo.
The egr valve is located towards the front of the intake.
last question and ill accept.lol the turbo has been "whinning " loud of late.......vein related?
Yes, that was a clue that the turbo vanes are sticking.
Ford Engine Master/Transmission Master/Chassis Master=Ford Senior Master also Diesel 7.3/6.0
hey dude, i replaced the turbo, egr valve and the deal that goes inbetween the turbo. long valve lookin deal. truck runs better....... do i need to have the computer reset?
also when driving at like 80mph i stomp on the pedal....truck barley moves/accelerates...lost speed going up a mild hill, pullin nothing?? any advice?
How long has it been since the computer program has been updated? There have been many updates for this year truck?
i ahve only had truck for 2 months, before that i dont know, zero since i have had it..
I would suggest taking it to a Ford dealer and just having them update the modules to the latest greatest. You should see a huge difference after the reprogramming. They will probably charge about 1 hr labor to do it.
