lurch, i need a diagram of how the gear on end of cylinder goes into the colunm-im having trouble getting switch cylinder into column

lurch,the problem i'm having is when cylinder is installed,i cannot get my key out,it's like the switch is not turning backwards far enough,when i push release button-it does nothing- i also don't have accesory position-i'm thinking the gear on end of cylinder is on wrong or wrong position?
