2005 ford freestyle, when changing brake pads on the rear, i can't push the caliper pistons back into the cylinders with a c-clamp as normal. what must I do differently to this car?

Your 2005 Freestyle uses a different type of rear caliper. It has a screw type caliper. This means the caliper need to be screwed in while being compressed. You will need a special tool for this and this tool can be rented at any local parts store for a small fee. Remeber the passenger caliper turns in counterclockwise. Hope this helps
