Some vehicles may have Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0756 or DTC P1701 stored in memory. This may be caused by the characteristics of the 1-3 shift combined with the sensitivity of diagnostic calibration caused by the DTC P0756 to set, even though SS2 was functioning properly and 3rd gear was obtained, or the shift lever not being in the proper position and setting DTC P1701.
Reprogram the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). The revised calibration should reduce the possibility of a false P0756 or P1701 being set. Refer to the following Service Procedure for details.
Obtain an Authorized Modifications Decal (FPS 8262 - obtainable through DOES II, 25/pkg) and list the date, dealer number, and summary of modifications performed. Select a prominent place adjacent to the Vehicle Emission Control Information Decal suitable for installing the Authorized Modifications Decal. Clean the area, install the decal, and cover it with a clear plastic decal shield
