I have 2001 ford ranger with V6. The battery keeps dying. I had the alternator tested it is good. I have found that fuse 26 in the fuse box is drawing 12V at .5-1amp. I believe this to be the cause of the battery dying when the car is off. Do you have an idea what could be causing this circuit to discharge battery.
Optional Information: 2001 Ford Ranger 3.0Already Tried: I have a 2001 ford ranger. A few weeks ago I had to replace the starter. Now that the car starts the batter keeps dying. I had the alternator checked and it is giving correct voltage to battery (it charge the battery correctly when car is on). But when truck is left for longer than 8 hours it will not star, the battery is completly dead. I checked the fuse pannel (with car off) and found that fuse 26 is drawing 12V with ~1amp current. Is that normal? What could be drawing current? What would need to be done to fix issue? Thanks
I found some wiring information on your fuse. Try disconncting each component to isolate the problem.
Please accept my answer if you are satisfied.
