Ford taurus 3.0 v-6
HiCustomerand thank you for your question, generally the oil from the old A/C compressor is to be dumped into a measuring container, and the 1oz more of oil added, normally it will take about 4oz of oil for the compressor.
CAUTION: During normal A/C operation, oil is circulated through the system with the refrigerant, and a small amount is retained in each component. If certain components of the system are removed for new installation, some of the refrigerant oil will go with the component. To maintain the original total oil charge, it is necessary to compensate for the oil lost by adding oil to the system with the new part.
NOTE: Service A/C compressors are shipped without compressor oil.

i only had 1 oz. of oil come out of old compressor
I would put at least 3-4oz of oil in the compressor even though your only had 1oz.the oil will get distributed throughout the system.
