Reply to chris's Post: so can the relay just be pulled out and checked for continuity or how would i check this?

Ok

in the eng compartment there is a fuse box --open the lid and find the starter relay---

you can remove the relay --and one of the pins should have power all the time ,, one of the pins should have a ground,,, one of the pins should have power when you turn the key to crank ----and the other goes to the starter----it will be easy to find the pin with power all the time ---then see if one of the other pins have power in crank---then you have two pin left over---usaly the two big pins on the relay are for the out put , like one pig pin will have the power all the time and the other big pin will go to the strater
