my 2004 ford f-150 makes a clunking noise when i take off from a dead stop. what is it? the dealer put grease in the rear end and seemed to help for a short while.

Did they grease the rear or the Universals(U joints)? The clunk is indicative of bad universal joints.. but I have seen where a worn pinion in the rear end itself would make a clunk.... I would have the u Joints checked first....

they greased the rear drive shaft they told me. so i guess that means the rear gears?., when i take off I hit the gas, truck clunks but accelerates, give it more gas, truck clunks again.
It's like a chain reaction or almost like somethings loose.
