ON A 2001 FORD FOCUS THE BLOWER SWITCH ONLY WORKS ON #4

This answer was rated:

ON A 2001 FORD FOCUS THE BLOWER SWITCH ONLY WORKS ON #4 HIGH AND NOTHING ON THE OTHER SPEEDS. WHEN YOU PUCH THE A/C SWITCH THE COMPRESSOR COMES ON ALONG WITH THE LIGHT ON THE SWITCH BUT NO BLOWER. IF YOU TURN IT ALL THE WAY UP THE BLOWER COMES ON BUT IT SHUTS THE A/C OFF. WHAT COULD BE CAUSING THIS?
sounds like the "blower resistor" is open. The blower resistor has a resistor element on the ground side and slows the blower motor in all positions except the "high" position. the resistor is located on the blower case, it has 4-5 large wires going to it, (in 1 connector) and is held in by 2, 5/16" screws. (it is a retangle shaped part about 1-1/2" wide and about 4" long, usually behind the glove box, or sometimes just above the pass feet on the "blower case" (being a focus it may even be under the hood by the firewall on the pass side) the Focus change a lot, but look around and you can find it!
