Have you had the trans serviced? When does the clunk occur, kicking it down to pass, or a specific gear.Is the check engine light on or od lamp flashing?

Reply to HDGENE's Post: Clunking occurs when downshifting into first gear when coming to a stop.

A diagnostic check for codes should be done to see if there is a problem with another subsystem on the vehicle but you most likely have a problem with the transmission solenoid body. The EPC solenoid controls line pressure and they like to operate erratically and cause delayed reverse engagements and weird upshifts/downshifts.
