i have a 93 ford probe. the fuel cut out light came on and now it wont start. i checked the switch in the back quarter but still wont start.

There are a few posibilites here that you can check before you take in it. I have included the diagrams for the interior and the under hood fuse panels with the fuse marked and the fuel pump relay marked. Thats about all you can check unless you have testing equiptment. If you do, let me know and i can send you the wiring diagram.

the car is 100 miles from home. i am going this weekend to look at it. all i know is they was driving, the light came on, the car shut off. now the fuel pump is not working, it cranks but wont start. i am looking for possible solutions before i go that far. thanks

Here is another diagram of the wiring to the inertia switch, test to see that there is power to it from the relay. If it doesnt, it's probably the relay, if it does, junmper the wires and the pump should come on if the switch is bad.
