KM40 DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) 67, 79/code 539:
CHECK A/C INPUT

    DTC 79/539 indicates the ACCS input to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) was high during KOEO/KOER Self-Test.

    DTC 67 indicates that during KOEO Self-Test, voltage was high on NDS (Pin 30) or ACCS (Pin 10) circuit.

    Note: Before entering this test, verify A/C selector is off (and shift selector is in PARK for AXODE and E40D vehicles). If A/C was on, turn off and rerun Self-Test. If DTC 67 or 79/539 is present, continue with this test.

  • Disconnect Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Inspect for damaged or pushed out pins, corrosion, loose wires, etc. Service as necessary.
  • Install breakout box, leave PCM disconnected.
  • Key on, engine off.
  • Measure voltage between Test Pin 10 at the breakout box and chassis ground.
Is voltage greater than 1.0 volt?
Yes No
VERIFY operation of A/C demand switch. If OK, SERVICE short to power in A/C circuit (A/C demand or Power-to-A/C clutch). REMOVE breakout box. RECONNECT all components. RERUN Quick Test.


REPLACE PCM. REMOVE breakout box. RECONNECT all components. RERUN Quick Test.

 

DL90 ALL CONTINUOUS MEMORY EGR DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTC): INTERMITTENT VERIFICATION code 332 DPFE/PFE

    Note: This test step verifies if the DTC is due to an intermittent or a hard fault.

  • Perform KOEO and KOER Self-Test if you have not already done so and make note of all codes received in KOEO, Continuous Memory and KOER modes. If unable to run KOER due to a "No Start" or "Stall," do not continue with this step, but go directly to DL101 .
  • If an EGR fault exists at the time of this test (hard fault), then an EGR DTC should also be received in KOEO or KOER or both depending on the DTC. If the EGR DTC is NOT received in KOEO or KOER but only retrieved from Continuous Memory, this could be due to an intermittent EGR system fault which occurred sometime in the past.

Are there any DTCs output in KOEO or KOER Self-Test (ignore Continuous Memory DTC's at end of KOEO)?

Yes No
A hard fault is indicated. RETURN to Section 2A and REFER to the EEC-IV DTC charts. An intermittent fault is indicated

TG90 PERFORM DRIVE CYCLE TEST code 634

  • Run Key On Engine Off (KOEO) Self-Test and record all Continuous Memory DTCs displayed.
  • Clear Continuous Memory (refer to Quick Test Appendix,).

    Note: Obey all traffic laws.

  • AX4S Drive Cycle (except 3.2L SHO):
    • Gear position in OVERDRIVE range, moderately accelerate from stop to 50 MPH. This allows transmission to shift into fourth gear. Hold speed and throttle steady for a minimum of 15 seconds.
    • With transmission in fourth gear and holding speed and throttle opening steady, lightly apply and release brake. Then hold speed and throttle steady for at least five seconds.
    • Brake to a stop and remain stopped for a minimum of 20 seconds. Repeat drive cycle at least five times.
  • 4R70W, AODE, CD4E, E4OD and AX4S-3.2L SHO Drive Cycle:
    • Gear position in DRIVE range, press the Transmission Control Switch (TCS) (the Transmission Control Indicator (TCIL) should light) and moderately accelerate from stop to 40 mph. This will allow the transmission to shift into third gear. Hold speed and throttle opening steady for a minimum of 15 seconds (30 seconds for altitudes above 4000 feet).
    • Press TCS (the TCIL should turn off) and accelerate from 40 mph to 50 mph. This will allow the transmission to shift into fourth gear. Hold speed and throttle steady for a minimum of 15 seconds.
    • With transmission in fourth gear and maintaining steady speed and throttle opening, lightly apply and release brake (to operate stop lamps). Then hold speed and throttle steady for at least an additional five seconds.
    • Brake to a stop and remain stopped for a minimum of 20 seconds with transmission in drive. Repeat drive cycle at least five times.
  • Rerun KOEO Self-Test and record all Continuous Memory DTCs.
Are pass codes present in Continuous Memory (any code 10-11/111)?
Yes No
Unable to duplicate fault at this time. For further diagnosis using EEC-IV Monitor Box or Scan Tool, REFER to Section 7A , EEC-IV Monitor Box: Intermittent Fault Diagnosis. If further diagnosis is not performed, then CLEAR Continuous Memory (REFER to Quick Test Appendix, Section 5A ) and REFER to appropriate Transmission Group in the Service Manual for possible internal transmission damage. For DTCs 99/624, 651 or 67/634:
GO to TG91

For DTCs 29/452:
GO to Pinpoint Test Step DS1 (E/F Series Bronco) For all other vehicles:
GO to DP1 .

For DTCs 659, 667, 668 and 675:
GO to TG93 .

For any other DTC:
GO to TG92 .
