94 Ford Ranger: camshaft..crankshaft..a broken timing belt..exhaust

Resolved Question:

How do I align the camshaft gear and crankshaft gear correctly when replacing a broken timing belt on a 94 Ford Ranger 2.3 motor? Also, how can I tell if the crankshaft is on the compression or exhaust stroke? Thanks very much.

When turning the engine to get #1 on TDC compression place your finger over the plug hole you will notice air trying to escape on the compression stroke.
