Customer Question

I am replacing the ball joints on a 96 Bronco and am having trouble removing the driver side spindle. The nuts that hold the spindle to the knuckle have been removed. The manual at this point says to simply "pull off the spindle". In my case, the spindle is laughing at me, with no intention of coming off! Any suggestions?

Hit the spindle where the ball joints go through it with a heavy hammer, the shock should pop the tapered sleeve of the joint out of the spindle.Or you can use a front end tool called a pickle fork to slide into the boot area of the joint and hit it with a hammer to force the joint apart from the knuckle.
