Lincoln Repair Questions? Ask a Mechanic for Answers ASAP
Welcome,I have been a professional master mechanic for over 35 years and am happy to help you with this.
Do you happen to have a volt meter to do a quick test with?
Does that mean you DO have a volt meter?
Thats ok, we can just type back and forth. Is that ok?
If you have a volt meter i need you to place it on the battery cable ends and record the voltage.
Then, with the meter still connected, try to start it and record what the voltage drops to and let me know please.
Ok, i see you have already done some testing.
be right back
The battery is way to low. it HAS to be at least 12 volts in order to make the starter work. If the battery is older than 5 years i would repace it because it should have been able to handle the key being turned on for an hour.
This means it has very little reserve capacity and should be replaced. Thats also why it wouldnt take a quick charge.
any further questions just let me know
what is the reading while you are trying to start it?
