We pulled into the driveway and it died. Displayed a check

Customer Question

We pulled into the driveway and it died. Displayed a check engine light and a low oil pressure light and will not start back up again. I checked the oil level and it is great and the color is wonderful as well
JA: Does the light stay on, or does it blink?
Customer: i believe it stays om. I tried to run an OBD sensor on it and it will not pick up any codes
JA: What is the model/year of your Lincoln?
Customer: 2007 lincoln navigator L 2wd
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: myself for sure. this just happened in the last 20 minutes or so we just got home from a weekend at the lake
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: the starter seems to engage for long periods of time even after you click the ignition back to the on position.

I have tried to pull the engine codes and it says there are no codes to display at this time
Expert:  Gary replied 3 months ago.

Hello there,

If you have no codes, the next thing to do is check for fuel pump operation/measure fuel pressure.

Can you do this?

Gary

Customer: replied 3 months ago.
I believe so. On my scan tool it also says that fuel system 1 is offline if that helps. How would you like me to try and check for fuel pump operation. I do not have the tools to measure fuel pressure though.
Expert:  Gary replied 3 months ago.

If you can listen at the filler neck (cap off) while a friend turns the ignition on?

The fuel pump should run for about 2 seconds.

You can also feel the pump run from the bottom of the fuel tank.

Otherwise you will need to take a line off at the fuel rail to measure fuel pressure.

A sniff of starter fluid in the throttle body, if the engine starts momentarily, you know you have no fuel at the injectors.

No fuel! It will run off of a squirt of ether. Small fuse for the fuel pump was good. I will check the relay by a swap out here directly.
Expert:  Gary replied 3 months ago.

That's good.

Swap the relay, if it still doesn't run, then maybe the pump has failed.

I think you know the path to take.

You got it!. Its not the relay, the diode, or the fuse so I will have to pick up a pump in the AM. Thanks for the help Gary!Josh
