Customer Question

2000 Lincoln continental. 4.6 engine. 265 k on vehicle. I had the trans. rebuilt more than 110 k ago. Drove for 3 hours on Friday. Got off a interstate no problems. Slowed down over a hill, then went to move ahead and the engine revved up- as if it was
in neutral. I have not serviced this trans. yet from when it was rebuilt. The fluid is slightly colored. Not burned- I have Amsoil fluid in this trans. It happened once, and drove home today 200 miles with no concerns. I'm thinking valve body sticking?

Hello, that is a posity but you should run a diagnostic check for codes first, then a line pressure check when the concern happens. That trans shtill have been serviced every 30 k miles

Tried to use it now- only have first gear. FYI - Amsoil is a 100,000 mile fluid.

Hello, yes I am familiar with Amsoil, I use it in my Harley. Stuck in one gear can be an internal failure mechnaically if it lost clearance in between a clutch, one way or planetary gear set. Diagnostic check for codes to see if there is any issues with a shift solenoid, line pressure check to see what you have, but most likely it will be a removal of the trans, tear down and overhaul or replacement worst case scenario without running through a few diagnostic checks.
