Lincoln MKZ: I have a 2010 MKZ with SYNC. I just stopped working

I have a 2010 MKZ with SYNC. I just stopped working two days ago. I have tried multiple iPods and the system does not recognize that a USB cable is inserted. Is there something I can do before taking the car into the dealership?

You can try the MASTER RESET. You will have to go to the settings menu which is the gear icon in the bottom center of the screen. Then go t system and scroll down. I cannot remember exactly where it is at without seeing the screen in front of me. But it is in the settings menu. It will reset the SYNC system back to factory.

This works sometime but not all the time.

If the problem is still present, the problem is either the APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) or the USB port itself. But most of the time it is the APIM. They may be able to reprogram the APIM to get everything working properly.

I tried it but it did not fix it.
