Hello! My name is XXXXX XXXXX X can assist you with your question.I take it you are getting a P0401 code in the computer?Have you checked the EGR ports?
are they located in the throttlebody
YES.. or on the intake. What size engine do you have? Can I get your VIN?
5.4
Got it! Thanks! For some reason I thought you had a Lincoln LS.This is a P0401 code correct?Does the engine sputter or stall when operating the EGR valve at idle?
this is a navgtr no stall r spttr
Right.. can you tell me the DPFE sensor voltage with the key on engine off?
no . is it possible sensor is defective its not motorcraft
You bet it could be!!It should read .5 or 1.0 volt or so with the key on engine off. It should also slowly rise in voltage as the EGR valve is opening. If not, check the EGR passages. You can use a hand held vacuum pump to apply vacuum to the EGR valve and open it at idle. The engine should start to run rough or even stall out when doing this. If not, the EGR EGR ports are plugged up and need to be cleaned out. Also, be sure to check the EGR plastic or rubber tubes on the exhaust up near the engine. These rubber tubes send a pressure to the DPFE sensor and from there it can tell the difference between the pressure. That is what it is called a differential pressure feedback EGR sensor. Be sure that these hoses are not ripped or cracked in anyway or have fallen off as this can cause your EGR code.I am glad I could help! Please don't forget to rate my answer so I get credit for assisting you today. The question WILL NOT close.
