I inherited from my father what he believed was a WWII German

Customer Question

I inherited from my father what he believed was a WWII German made P-38 that he believed was valuable because it has matching serial numbers on the slide, stock and magazine. After doing some internet research, the markings (or lack thereof) lead me to believe the gun was actually a post-war East German police model because the underside of the barrel has the 'crown over N' proof mark, and the date code 953, indicating manufacture in September 1953. The slide bears no markings other than the serial number. If that is the case, can you let me know approximately how much the gun is worth?

Hello! Do you have any photos of your gun? Jim

I can upload some in just a few minutes. What angles would be most helpful?

Photos of the entire gun as well as any writing on the barrel or frame would be helpful.
