Thank you for using Just Answer!

The Browning Auto-5 shotgun is a semi-automatic shotgun designed by John. M. Browning and was offered in both 12 and 16 gauge. Barrel lengths were 26, 28, 30, or 32 inches and had various ribs and chokes. It has a square-back action that makes it easily recognizable. It has a blued finish with a checkered walnut stock, round-knob stock.

There are various versions that very in the type of rib, ornamentation, as well as quality of workmanship and the materials used. The Auto-5 was made in Belgium by FN from 1903 to 1939, Remington from 1940 to 1951, and back to FN in 1952, and finally the gun was made by Miroku in Japan from 1976 until 1999.

The value of the gun depends on what grade it is (how ornate, how good the materials are) and whether it has a rib and what type of rib.

Based on the supplied serial number, your gun was made in 1929/1930.

Retail values (grades go up as the gun is more ornamented and made of better materials):

If the gun is very ornate, you will probably need a hands-on appraisal by someone in your area to determine the grade.
