I have antique fowling piece from the Austrian royal armory dating from appr 1825it has silver on either side of upper portion of the with rabbits and other small animals it alsohas number on it Isthere any way you give me an appr value?

regarding my gun, it is appr 44" in length it has scroll work on sides of the I the hilt w/animals and fowl. On one side the name of A Wolf, the other side the name Neubistritz. I know there is a number somewhere on it but I can't remember where,as for a picture i am not able send because I don' know to sen apicture over internet

Weapons of that era and genre normally retail in the $600 to $850 range. It would have originally been a flintlock but many were converted to percussion in the 1850s. The higher value would be for a flintlock. Best, Will
I forgot to mention that the was double barreled and my father had an appraisal in the 60's for $4,000 dollars from an gun dealer has thevalue decreased in 50 years?
I don't think the value has come down but rather it was overvalued to begin with...the market has never been incredibly strong on these weapons, even though they are highly crafted...I would think perhaps the appraisal was not exactly based on actual market selling prices, sorry...I have been a firearms dealer for over 31 years and I have never seen ANY sell anywhere near that amount, sorry.
