Thank you for using Just Answer!

Your gun was made in the 1954-1955 time frame.

The Browning Auto-5 Lightweight (Light 12 and Light 20) was introduced in 12 gauge in 1947 and in 20 gauge in 1958. (The 20 gauge brings a 40% premium on the values below.) It is recoil operated semi-automatic shotgun and comes with a 26, 28, or 30 inch barrel, various chokes, has a gold-plated trigger, a checkered pistol grip stock with either a round knob before 1967 or a flat knob until 1976. Auto-5 shotguns that were made before 1976 were produced by FN.

Wholesale/Dealer values (add around 20% for retail values):

FN Model without a vent rib

Excellent: $525-$775
Very Good: $390-$450
Good: $340-$370

FN Model with a vent rib

Excellent: $735-$1,150
Very Good: $525-$630
Good: $415-$470

If you have a Cutts or Polychoke on the gun, reduce the values above by 30%.
