I have an 1894 Winchester Sporting Rifle in 38/55 caliber. It was manufactured in 1898 I have heard they have a common problem with the firing pins I believe mine is not functioning properly. How easy of a repair and are parts readily available. I would like to be able to fire the gun.
Good evening, Firing pins are still available - Numrich gun parts has them here - http://www.gunpartscorp.com/catalog/Products.aspx?catid=7525I would suggest that you have a gunsmith check the gun first, to determine if there is in fact a problem. If there is an issue, I would allow the gunsmith to make the repair. With a firearm that old, the work on it will need to be done delicately, plus that will allow the gunsmith an opportunity to check the entire firearm out thoroughly.
