Thank you for using Just Answer!

Based on the serial number provided, your Model 70 was made in 1974.

The Winchester Model 70 is considered by many to be the finest bolt-action rifle made in the United States. The pre-1964 model is highly sought after by both shooters and collectors. It is called "the rifleman's rifle." The post-64 is not as sought after.

The pre-64 Model 70 is an updated and improved version of Winchester's Model 54. It has a hinged floorplate, a redesigned safety to not interfere with mounted scopes, a manually releasable bolt stop, the buttstock and forend were made more attractive, and it has a forged steel trigger guard.

The post-64 Model 70 has a redesigned action and bolt, a free-floating barrel, and a new type stock with pressed checkering.

Your rifle is the Model 70 Magnum, which is chambered in .300 Win Mag, amongst other calibers, and has a 24 inch barrel.

Blue Book values (what a dealer would offer you, a collector might offer more):

Excellent: $475-$650
Very Good: $375-$425
Good: $275-$325

I hope this is helpful.
