Hi,

...

So sorry, but under current banking regulations, if a national bank does not return cancelled checks to its customers, the bank must either retain the cancelled checks—or maintain the capacity to provide legible copies of the checks—for seven years.

The bank must provide you with a copy of any cancelled check within a reasonable period of time from your request. The bank may charge a fee for this service.

Under the Bank Security Act, banks must keep a detailed history of each checking and savings account for at least five years after the information is obtained. Banks must retain records of international transactions over $10,000, account statements, checks over $100, deposits over $100, signature cards and records needed to reconstruct transactions. While banks may keep this information in any form they choose -- electronic, microfilm, original or copy -- it must be easy to access if requested.

SO sorry but there re NO guarantees past 7 years, and the 7 years if for National Banks.

...

HOWEVER, BOA is a very large insitution and MANY time keep records even long ... just to protect THEMSELVES.

...

I would certainly go into a branch and ask to speak with a manager and see what they can do.

I hope you'll rate me (that's the only way we get credit for the work here) based on thoroughness and accuracy, rather than any good news/bad news content ... But if there's something you don't understand , please let me know.
