Customer Question

I got married.
We filed jointly with my spouse as the first person.
I have an individual brokerage account that had capital gains and buy sell transactions.
On our schedule D, my spouses name is ***** ***** top.
My question is:
Will the IRS know the info on the schedule D is mine so they won't go just on the proceeds statement sent to them from my broker?
Thank you.

Yes. They will; "bundle" both SS numbers . It is better if it had your name but it's not a big deal (after all it has been reported as opposed to tax evasion). Hopefully this great bit of news earns me a great rating! lol
